Steal A Seed Upgrade Priority
First planter versus treadmill versus extra planters — buy in that argument, not that shop order.
Steal A Seed cash is easy to waste. The shop presents planters and a treadmill as if they were equal buttons. They are not. One upgrade starts your income. One upgrade finishes a steal. Extra planters only matter after both of those jobs are covered. This page is the spend order for a six-player session, not a price list. Official upgrade costs are not published here, so we rank jobs, not invented dollar breakpoints.
Pair this with the tier list hub so you know what you are planting into those slots, and with the session planner so you do not buy mid-heist. Treadmill technique itself is on treadmill Speed.
The three upgrades that actually matter
Everything else is flavor until these three are honest:
- First planter — the slot that turns a seed into cash. Without it you are holding magenta blocks for other people to admire.
- Treadmill Speed — the stat that lets you enter a garden, grab one seed, and leave. Without it S-tier plants are window shopping.
- Extra planters — more slots so more plants print at once. Without seeds to fill them, they are empty furniture.
Buy in that argument, not in the order the pads sit on the grass.
First planter wins the opening minute
Your first buy is a working planter with something in it. A starter crop is enough. The starter crops page covers what to drop in that slot. The point is not prestige. The point is that cash starts while you learn the map, walk the ring, and find the treadmill.
Skip the first planter and every later decision gets worse:
- You cannot recover from a failed steal because you have no income.
- You cannot afford Speed, so you keep failing steals.
- You look at extra planters you cannot fill.
If you spawn with a planter already, your “first planter” job is fill it, not buy a second one. An empty slot is not an upgrade. It is a hole.
Treadmill Speed wins the first real steal
Once cash is ticking, the next bottleneck is Speed. Steal A Seed is a PvP tycoon on six-player servers. The extract is a race. The treadmill is how you train that race. A high-tier seed you cannot outrun the owner for is not an upgrade target; it is a tour.
Spend on Speed when:
- You have at least one planter printing.
- You have already died or dropped a seed because someone caught you.
- You can see A or S plants on the ring and you cannot reach them.
- You are about to join a heist and you are the runner, not the decoy.
Do not spend on Speed when your garden is empty. Fast legs and zero income is a tourist build. Do not max Speed before you have somewhere to plant the seed you steal. The how to steal loop is grab one, plant it, then decide the next buy.
Details of training without wasting the session are on treadmill Speed.
Extra planters win the mid-session, not the opener
Extra planters multiply whatever you already own. They do not create seeds. Buy the next planter when:
- Every current slot is filled with at least B-tier cash crops (see the tier list).
- You have a seed in hand or a steal lined up that needs a home.
- Speed is good enough that you can defend or replace what you plant.
- The extra slot will print during the next treadmill session, not sit idle while you AFK.
Skip the extra planter when:
- You are still on starter-only income and Speed is terrible.
- You would fill it with D-tier junk “just to occupy it.”
- You are about to raid and need the cash for a Speed dump instead.
A garden with two full planters outprints a garden with five empty ones. Slot count is a vanity metric until the slots work.
A simple spend loop
Use this every time cash hits the threshold for a buy:
- Is a planter empty? Fill it or buy the first missing slot. Stop.
- Did the last steal fail because you were slow? Treadmill. Stop.
- Are all slots full with C or better, and do you have another seed? Extra planter. Stop.
- If none of those, bank the cash. Do not impulse-buy a third copy of something that is not the bottleneck.
That loop is what the session planner is for: pick the bottleneck before you walk to the pad.
Planters versus Speed in PvP terms
Think about the six-player server, not the shop UI.
- More planters, low Speed: you become a farm. High-tier neighbors will treat your garden as a pantry. You print, they steal, you cannot chase.
- High Speed, few planters: you become a raider with nowhere to store the win. You drop seeds or plant over your only cash crop.
- Balanced: one or two printing slots, enough Speed to extract one A or S, then a third slot when you actually have the plant.
Team heists change the mix. If you are the runner, Speed is the upgrade. If you are the planter at home receiving the seed, slots are the upgrade. Do not both buy the same thing.
What not to optimize
Do not optimize for a named crop because this wiki will not invent one. Do not optimize for a cash-per-second screenshot from another steal-the-thing Roblox game. Do not optimize for owning every pad on your plot while three slots are empty. Do not sell your only printing plant to afford a treadmill tick you will waste on a D-tier magenta block.
Upgrade priority is a filter: the next purchase must either start cash, finish a steal, or hold a seed you already have. If it does none of those, it is not this session’s buy.
When the garden is finally full of plants that belong on the tier list, stop shopping and start defending. The treadmill is still there for the next raid. Extra planters you cannot watch are just a wider buffet for the lobby.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Steal A Seed heists, Speed, and codes.
Should I buy the treadmill before my first planter?
No. Fill or buy a planter first so cash starts. Speed with no income is a tourist build. Plant, then train, as in treadmill Speed.
When is an extra planter better than more Speed?
When every current slot is filled with at least a cash crop and you have another seed ready. Empty extra slots print nothing.
I keep dying on steals. What do I buy?
Speed, if a planter is already printing. If the garden is empty, plant first, then treadmill. Read how to steal before the next sprint.
Do I need official upgrade prices to follow this list?
No. This page ranks jobs, not invented dollar breakpoints. Buy whatever currently starts cash, finishes a steal, or holds a seed you already have.
How do I plan a whole session of buys?
Use the session planner to pick the bottleneck, then come back to this spend order so you do not impulse-buy mid-heist.
Does this change if I am heisting with a team?
Split the jobs. The runner buys Speed. The home gardener buys planters. Both of you should still have at least one printing crop.
